Words are more powerful than you may think.  We use words everyday to communicate our thoughts and feelings to those around us.  Most of what we say comes out of our mouth without too much thought going into it beforehand.

We can accomplish so much by what we say.  We can use our voice to tell someone how much we love them and appreciate them.  We can tell someone thank you and ask others if they need our assistance.  At work, we may be training a new person in our team and the choice of words may make the difference in them understanding the expectations and being totally confused.  Our words show how much respect we have for one another.  It is hard to hide our feelings when talking to people.

We all make mistakes, though, and let our mouths get ourselves in trouble.  Have you ever wished you could take back some words that you have said in anger?  You can cause a lot of damage to relationships by the words we choose.  I do not feel comfortable around people that use curse words as a normal part of their conversation.  I never feel that it is appropriate.  Does that mean that I have never said some of those words personally?  No.  I have on occasion used profanity and wish I could take those words back, but I can’t.

James 3:2 (NLT) says “Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.”

It takes a conscientious effort on our part to improve in this area.  I  have noticed this, though.  Your true beliefs and values are going to show through in the way that you communicate.  Your first step in improving is to work on your value system.  Be true to what God’s will is in your life.  The Bible is a great instruction book.  It will give you guidance in all aspects of your life.  We will never be perfect until we get to Heaven.  That does not mean that we should not try to be more Christ like while we are here on Earth.

Let your words reflect the positive values.  Use them to help others and build them up instead of tearing them down.  I would love to hear your comments.  If you like what you are reading in my weekly blog, share it with others so that they can experience the same things.  Thank you again for all of your support.  I am very passionate about the topics I discuss and want to touch as many lives as possible.
