What defines your leadership style?  Have you given it very much thought?  This does not happen overnight.  It is a learning process.  Your leadership style is developed over the years based on three influences in your life.  These influences come from how you were raised and who you surround yourself with.

Personality          Values          Integrity

In this blog, I want to concentrate on your values.  It starts with how you were raised.  Kids are not raised the same way today as when I was growing up.  I think that part of it is that I am more aware of other kids now compared to when I was one.  Discipline is not the same and therefore, some kids do not learn the difference between right and wrong and that there are consequences to their actions.  I look back at my childhood and the values that my parents taught me stayed with me into my adulthood.

We are influenced by our religious belief, the culture that we are brought up in and our political views.  Political views are being shared everywhere right now during the election year.  These views also play a factor as to how you lead people.  Were you raised in the church?  Do you continue to develop your faith?  It takes more than just attending worship service on Sunday.  You need to surround yourself with friends that will hold you accountable for your actions.

What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions?  James 2:14  We can learn all throughout the Bible how to treat people.  God gives us plenty of direction if we are willing to listen.  The problem is not putting it into action.  Too often, we get caught up in the other influences in our life.  We get swayed to fit in and not create any waves.  Our peers try to get us to follow the main stream ways of leading people.  Are you staying true to your values in your actions?

Your core values show through in how you lead people.  Take a serious look at your core values.  What is truly important to you?  Is this what comes through in your actions?  Are you true to your core?  What defines your style?  What defines you?  It is not too late to develop into the type of leader that God wants you to be.

I would love the opportunity to speak to your group about how God has developed me into the leader that I am today.  Learn more by going to my speaker page of the website.
