This morning, I had the opportunity to lead the discussion in my Sunday school class. Our normal discussion leader had a lesson already prepared based on the Bible verses that we were planning on discussing.
With two hours notice before class, I got a phone call from him asking if I would lead the class since he had something come up that prevented him from attending. I could pick my own topic and I knew that it had to be centered around a Bible verse. All I could think of at the time was how we adapt to change. Our whole lives are a process of change. There are all sorts of unexpected things that happen in our lives.
Isaiah 64:8 ESV
But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.
Think about all of our circumstances being another turn of the wheel. We have to be willing to be molded to what God wants in our lives. This includes the unexpected joys in our lives and the struggles that we may encounter. Be open to change. Compare yourself today to yourself five years ago. How have you changed? Are you growing as a person?
You might have gone through some job changes, health issues, relationship changes, or lost a loved one unexpectedly. How did you react to though circumstances? Did you stress over the change? A member of our class mentioned that she turns everything over to God and no longer has stress. She bottomed out financially and through God’s opening of her eyes, He has shown that He was there through it all and she has bounced back better than ever.
Another person said that he no longer asks “why?” He feels so comfortable in God’s plan, that he does not have to ask the question. Embrace change. It is just another turn of the potter’s wheel. Think about how beautiful you will be when He is through with you.
