Do love reading a good book or watching a movie that has a great plot twist that you do not see coming? It keeps it from getting predictable and typically makes for an enjoyable story. Why don’t we feel the same way when we have plot twists in our personal lives? In the books and movies the star of the story always comes out on top by the end regardless of the trials and tribulations along the way. Do we not have confidence that things will get better when we run into the unexpected problems that arise in our lives?
James 1:2-4 says “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” I am going through a plot twist in my life that I tried my best to avoid. I have prayed heavily for a long time for God to honor my request and at times got very frustrated that it did not go my way. This past month, I changed my prayer to ask Him to give me the strength to follow His will. I have faith that He will take care of me. He has always been there for me.
I do not know what the future has in store for me, but I do know that my Lord will be walking along side of me. It happens to all of us at some point in our lives. We run into an unexpected plot twist in our lives. Lean on your faith in God to get you through the unexpected changes. The end of the verse says that we will be “not lacking anything.” That tells me that we will be better off than if we would have been going down the path that we were tracking on. God has plans for us that we cannot even imagine. Have faith to follow His will, not ours.
I would love to hear how you get through the plot twists of your lives and what you have learned when you get to the next chapter of your story.
Blessings to you my brothers and sisters in Christ,
Thomas
