After suffering devastating plagues sent by God, the Pharaoh of Egypt decided to let the Hebrew people go, as Moses had asked. After they left Egypt, though, he changed his mind and sent his troops out after them.

The Israelites ended up being trapped between the sea and the pursuing army. They were so distraught from their past slavery, they probably felt it would be better to die in the desert than to go back. “But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” (Exodus 14:13-14 NLT)

God opens a miraculous way of escape by clearing a dry path through the sea. Once the people are safely on the other side, God sweeps away the Egyptian army into the sea. Through this epic miracle, God reveals his absolute power over all things.
Do you have a Red Sea? Is there a situation in your life you do not have any control over and are afraid of what the future holds? Are we wandering in a wilderness like the Israelites? With what has taken place in 2020, everyone probably has something going on. Do you have the feeling of “Now what”?

We need to remember that God did not remove the Red Sea. He parted it. God does not always get rid of your problems, but He will clear a path to get through them. Moses’ words, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today……………The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”, are still true today. Put your trust in the Lord and He will get you through what is in front of you.

We typically try to plan out our lives using a society driven set of events. The plan may include finishing college by this age, getting married by that age, purchasing a house before having children, etc. Life often does not follow our carefully planned itinerary, however.

Consequently, we may feel that we are wandering in a wilderness of our own, moving in a different direction than we had planned. God knows us better than we know ourselves (or are willing to admit) and there can be many reasons that God takes us through the wilderness. God might be taking us through the wilderness is that it is a perfect place to learn how to depend on Him.

If you are currently looking at a Red Sea in front of you and there is no turning back, turn your eyes to the Lord and trust that He will get you through it.
